Bonzeye Bonny is the name that Bonnie Watt(she/her) uses in her creative life. The name, the name Bonzeye Bonny, was inspired by a childhood nickname- Bonzai Bonnie- given to her by her grandmother due to her fearlessness. Bonnie tries to channel that energy again as she makes her way as a professional artist.
Bonzeye’s art is full of joy and bright colors, reflecting her love of the natural world, animals, hope, and language. She has explored a wide variety of art forms, including paper collage, ceramics, comics,and photography.
When she’s not making art, she’s probably walking her dogs in the woods, collecting rocks, baking, or studying a foreign language. Her favorite foods are sticky rice, fresh corn tortillas, cheese curds, cinnamon, and peanut butter. She cries reading Mary Oliver and listening to John Prine, but they make her laugh too. Her favorite color is grue— blue-green or green-blue.
